Bridgerton hit our TV screens in 2020. Since then we have received countless requests saying ‘can you make a Bridgerton Inspired cake’? Of course we can!
Bridgerton is set in England in the year 1813. The rich and influential Bridgerton family wish to find a suitor for their eldest daughter, Daphne. Daphne however, is intent on finding a suitor who she falls head over heels in love with. Her parents found true love and it is her dream that her marriage be the same.
It is Regency London and the Debutant season is in full swing. The Debutant season, or season, refers to the traditional annual period in the spring and summer when it is customary for members of the social elite of British society to hold balls, dinner parties and charity events. The ‘debutantes’ are the eldest daughters of the highest ranking families in the country. They have been highly educated in social etiquette and are paraded in front on the countries most eligible bachelors. A very antiquated process indeed!
The serious follows the ‘goings on’ of the season and the highs and lows of the social constraints of woman (and men) of this time. Of course, not all debutantes and eligible bachelors follow the rules of social etiquette. The series
The Regency period was a time of excess, beauty and decadence and the serious really is a feast for the eyes. The costumes, the colours, the jewels, the country homes, the glittering ballrooms. It is basically completely over the top in every sense!
Over the years we have been known to create one or two ‘over the top’ cakes. So, what a treat it was to be commissioned by By Word of Mouth to design and create this amazing Bridgerton inspired cake for Mollie’s 21st birthday party in November.
The fresh florals were supplied by Lavender Green. We worked with Lavender Green to create the exact same flowers from icing.
The cake comprised layers of chocolate, lemon and vanilla sponge..
Just like the TV series, it was a feast for eyes and a feast in itself!
