Over that time, we have created and delivered wedding cakes for a number of celebrations at the venue, from elegant tiered designs to spectacular statement cakes created to hold their own within the magnificent surroundings of the Painted Hall.
We are delighted to now be a recommended wedding cake supplier at the Old Royal Naval College, continuing a relationship with a venue we already know and love.
For our couples, that experience matters. We understand the setting, the scale of the spaces and the practical considerations involved in delivering and installing a wedding cake at such a significant London venue.
A Recommended Wedding Cake Supplier
Being a recommended supplier at the Old Royal Naval College is particularly special to us because our relationship with the venue is not new.
Hall of Cakes has been creating wedding cakes for celebrations here for many years, giving us first-hand experience of how different styles and sizes of cake work within this remarkable setting.
When we design a bespoke wedding cake, we consider far more than the cake in isolation. The room, architecture, flowers, tablescape and overall styling of the wedding all influence how the finished cake will be seen.
At a venue as impressive as the Old Royal Naval College, those considerations become particularly important.
Wedding Cakes for the Painted Hall
The Painted Hall provides an extraordinary backdrop for a wedding cake.
With such a magnificent interior, a cake needs to feel beautifully considered within the room. That doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be enormous, but its proportions, silhouette and positioning all need to work with the scale and character of the space.
Our experience of creating cakes for weddings at the Old Royal Naval College allows us to consider these details from the beginning of the design process.
Whether the brief calls for a refined tiered wedding cake or something much more dramatic, our aim is always to create a design that feels completely at home within its surroundings.
Our Giant Heart Wedding Cake
One of our most memorable commissions at the Old Royal Naval College was a spectacular giant heart-shaped wedding cake created for a celebration in the Painted Hall.
Working alongside Alice Wilkes Design, we created an enormous heart cake measuring approximately one metre across and providing around 200 portions.
The cake featured beautiful piped detailing and was designed as a true statement piece — something very different from a traditional tiered wedding cake and perfectly suited to the scale and drama of the setting.
Creating a cake of this size also required careful consideration of its construction, transportation and final installation at the venue.
It remains one of our favourite examples of how a wedding cake can become an integral part of the overall design of a celebration.

Bespoke Wedding Cakes in Greenwich
Every Hall of Cakes bespoke wedding cake is individually designed for the couple, their wedding and the setting in which the cake will ultimately be displayed.
We can take inspiration from many elements of a celebration — from flowers and stationery to fabrics, architecture, colour palettes and details from a wedding dress.
Our work combines contemporary design with traditional cake-decorating skills, including intricate royal icing piping, handcrafted sugar flowers and couture-inspired finishes.
Having worked at the Old Royal Naval College over many years, we can also advise on the scale and proportions that will work particularly well within the venue.
Experience Matters
Creating a wedding cake for one of London’s landmark venues isn’t only about design.
For larger or more intricate cakes, delivery and installation are an important part of the process. Cakes may need to be transported in sections, assembled on site and carefully finished once in position.
Knowing a venue and understanding how it operates makes that process considerably smoother.
With more than 18 years of experience creating wedding cakes for celebrations across London and Kent, Hall of Cakes has worked within many of the capital’s leading hotels and wedding venues.
Our aim is always the same: for the couple and their planner, the cake should be one element of the wedding they simply don’t need to worry about.
