The African wedding cakes are usually very grand and very ornate. Actually we have been told by more than one African family that it is, to say the least, a little bit competitive in the African community and thus the grander the better!
One of our favourite African weddings that we worked on was for Francesca and Tony at The Royal Exchange in London. There was no expense spared at this lavish event and Tony wanted the cake to be a very big feature. It certainly was! 9 tiers (including the fresh flower base) and adorned with hundreds and hundreds of intricate sugar roses, leaves and blossoms.
