3D Handbag Cakes

Well, this was a real honour! We have made so many 3D handbag cakes over the years but this weeks’ commission was actually from Axel Arigato, in collaboration with Mulberry UK.

The cake was required for a staff party at the Axel offices in London to celebrate the commission and the launch on the Mulberry bag this week (the bag is now for sale on their website).

Designer Handbags Cakes are one of our most popular requests. They are such a lovely idea for the discerning lady’s birthday or special celebration. We have done SO many designer handbag cakes! Chanel, Dior, Mulberry, and we also have some more commissioned for later in 2023.

The secret to making a designer handbag cake look so realistic is the scaling. So, we take all of the measurements – and I mean ALL of the measurements and then scale up, depending on how big the bag needs to be and how many people it needs to feed. Having said that, we wouldn’t go too big on a handbag as it just wouldn’t look right. If the client needed to feed say 100 people, we would then suggest a tiered cake with the handbag as a sugar sculpture placed on the top.

I especially love the last image here. This is the actual handbag placed in front of the cake on the board. Quite a good resemblance we think!
