This week we are very excited to working on our first wedding cake at Raffles London. Having visited the venue when it first opening we were blown away by the grandeur and the history of the venue.
The original building is Edwardian Baroque and is Grade II listed. Built in 1919 as the epicentre for the British Military and used as the famous War Offices in the second world war. Winston Churchill’s main office was in this building as well as offices for over 2500 British Military personnel. The building was finally sold off in 2014 and then bought by its current owners in 2016.. Since then, it has undergone the most extensive refurbishment and finally opened in 2023 as the magnificent Raffles Hotel OWO
As a lover of history and Britain’s finest architecture, just walking past the building during the redevelopment i said ‘we need to do a wedding cake at Raffles’! Not only is it a prime location for a luxury London wedding, but with the baroque style and the magnificent grandeur of the interior, a wedding cake at Raffles shouldn’t just be any cake. It needs to be a Hall of Cakes wedding Cake!
Of course, once we have delivered our wedding cake this weekend we will post the photos. But in the meantime, we have included below some images of cakes that we think would work perfectly in the Whitehall Ballroom at Raffles. .
Firstly, you need height; A three tier cake is just not going to work. The Whitehall Ballroom is just magnificent and your wedding cake at Raffles needs to be the same.
We also think in terms of style, traditional is more the way to go. We are not talking Victorian here. Whilst the venue has history, it is brand new so we think the design needs to be a perfect blend of combining traditional with a clean and classic look.
