We are absolute history geeks at Hall of Cakes and we just adore an old building and a bit of history. We get SO excited when we are asked to bring in to the wedding cake design, an element of the buildings’ architecture. Perhaps the cornicing or external mouldings. We can literally recreate any details in icing.
We have included a selection of wedding cakes here that would suit the venue perfectly. If budget is not a problem then sugar flowers are the way to go. One of the cakes featured below was for Gemma and TJ at Claridges in London – intricately iced tiers with hundreds of sugar flowers, buds and blossoms. An absolute show stopper.
But, you can keep the price down a little and still have a tall, grand wedding cake. Also featured here is a wedding cake we did at The Savoy in London (silver/grey finish) Still multiple tiers but using fresh flowers instead of hand crafted sugar flowers. This will bring the cost down significantly. Essentially it is our time you are paying for. Every single petal of every single flower is rolled and cut by hand. One rose probably takes around 15-20 minutes. So, when 200 are required on one wedding cake, you can see how the cost adds up! And, thats before we’ve even put the oven on.
Whichever option you go for. A wedding cake at Peckforton Castle needs height. No question at all. Height and grandeur are absolute musts.
