The price of a Luxury Wedding Cake… will start at £895 for three tiers. Yes, this is at the top end. But, we only design and create top end cakes.
Very often people are surprised by the price of our cakes – actually not just our cakes but other companies too. It’s a real issue for cake makers to be honest. People just don’t realise the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes and the hours and hours of time that go into the designing, preparation, baking, sugar-crafting, clearing up, delivery… Plus we have the same admin and business costs as anyone else. and trust me, after all our costs are paid we really don’t earn a great deal of money!
How is the price of a luxury wedding cake calculated? Your are paying for our time. Plus, you are paying for our expertise. We weren’t able to delivery an 8 tier wedding cake to Scotland in 2022 (comprising over 500 sugar flower and blossoms) based on a couple of years experience. Years and years of honing our skills and expertise to be able to execute such a job and ensure that everything was executed and delivered to the highest standard possible.
If I told you that one hand crafted sugar rose takes around 15-20 minutes, then you will start to understand how things can add up if 300 hundred of them are required on one of our grander designs. If we say, paid ourselves £20 per hour (we wish!) then you can see even more clearly how the cost racks up – Oh, and we haven’t started the cake yet, this is purely the flowers! But its fair to say that it is the sugar flowers that do rack up the costs significantly (or other similar details – such as handmade figures etc.)
The average three tier cake is probably around 3-4 days work, plus material costs, plus admin, plus overheads…. etc. etc. the last electrician we hired at home for some general work was £225 a day…
