As you may have already seen on our website and socials, over the years we have done some very big wedding cakes.  However, this is not all that we do.  Sometimes we feel like shouting from the rooftops ‘we do smaller cakes too!’

I think some couples see the bigger wedding cakes and assume that this is all that we do – or that we are going to be really expensive.  Not true at all!  Yes, the bigger, more detailed cakes are a lot more expensive due to the work and time involved.  But, if you are looking for a simple one or two tier cake for your wedding, that’s absolutely fine.  We can do that.

This morning I had the pleasure of seeing Carol Navis of Cut Above Productions.  Cut Above Productions are a well established videography company in Kent.  Carol and I (as usual) did not stop chatting.  We chatted how ‘micro weddings’ have become a lot more popular since Covid.  I do hate referring back to that awful time but there is no avoiding it.  Sadly, in 2025 the wedding and events industry is still recovering.  Yes, 100% true.  In London and the south, we lost so much international business. Couples who may have travelled to London for their wedding, were/are from countries that were a year behind the UK in terms of the travel rules and restrictions.  Hence, it’s taken a long while for our industry to get back to normal.

A positive however, is the ‘micro wedding’ and, of course, ‘micro wedding cakes’.  During Covid were were all told to stay at home with our nearest and dearest.  I guess this did make us take stock of what is important in life and ‘who’ is important in your life.  Of course, the big traditional wedding will always be popular (I hope so!)  But, I think the pressure of a big wedding has been removed.  A micro wedding with a handful of guests is intimate, beautiful and a damn sight cheaper!

A single tier, micro wedding cake, with some piping and some fresh flowers on the top is only going to set you back around £200 – £250 (plus delivery)  Obviously, if you wish to add more detail (sugar flowers etc.) then that is going to be extra as a lot more time is involved.

Pictured below are some perfect examples of micro wedding cakes that we have made over the last couple of years.

Lastly, and don’t tell anyone I said this but, if you are have a micro wedding, the chances are that you are hosting your wedding on a week day  Suppliers are generally more booked up at the weekends and thus a mid week booking is quite appealing.  You’re likely to bag yourself a good deal :)
