This cake was designed and created for Franchesca and Tony for their lavish London wedding celebrations. No expense was spared at this incredible event and it was a huge honour to have been selected as the wedding cake designer.
A spectacular guest list, the most amazing flowers I have ever seen, a choir and oh, just a little vocal entertainment by Alexandra Burke.
Tony had seen various designs on our website but he wanted this cake to not only be incredible, but original and a complete surprise for Franchesca.
As you will see from these images, we created hundreds and hundreds of sugar leaves, petals and blossoms to be applied to the cake along with the most elaborate initial plaques with the clients initials. These were individually created and hand painted with edible gold.
The cake itself was a towering feast of a many different flavours.. Rich fruit cake, carrot with orange zest buttercream, chocolate sponge, lemon, coffee with expresso rum cream filling… the list goes on.
I hope you enjoy these images and I hope you will see that the set up of one of our grand designs is a little more than just a quick ‘drop off’! We were at the venue from 7am until 2pm and every moment was precious.
We are proud to say that our clients come to us because they want a cake that is truly spectacular but, I have to say that most clients don’t always appreciate the time involved in not only the design and creation, but the transportation, the set up, liaising with tthe florist, the venue, making sure the table is strong enough, ensuring the floor is level… the list goes on. There really is so much more to it that meets the eye – not to mention the stress involved. But, that is why our clients commission us. Because, they don’t need to worry about all these aspects. We do.
From Tony’s first visit to our studio until the day before the wedding I have to say that we didn’t always see eye to eye! If you met Tony you would completely understand what I mean. Tony is a man who knows what he wants and has an impeccable eye for style and detail. But, lets just say he doesn’t always like to be told what can and can’t be done!
I wanted Tony to be completely ‘WOWED’. Period. Our aim is to create showstopping luxury wedding cakes and when i collapsed on the sofa that evening I felt we had done our job.
However, you don’t always get piece of mind until you hear back that the client loved it. That phone call came today. He did. Phew.
