The rest as they say is history and three years on from leaving the city, I was absolutely chuffed to be asked to make Karen and Paul’s wedding cake!
When Karen and I met up to discuss the design of her cake (which I have to admit wasn’t the usual design consultation, but over a very nice bottle of red at the Chophouse in Butlers Wharf) I wasn’t surprised to learn that she wanted me to create something completely ‘vintage and very traditional….’ Karen showed me a picture of a true Victorian masterpiece – on which the design of her cake was based.
I so wish I had taken more pictures of the work in progress to post on the blog, but to be honest, I was so busy planning, baking, covering, piping… that there just wasn’t the time….Anyway, I have posted a few images, showing the first tier in progress, through to the bride and groom cutting the cake.
Karen and Paul married on 1st May in a beautiful church in Banstead and then the reception was held at the Burford Bridge Hotel in Dorking. A fantastic wedding and great venue and Karen (as always) looked stunning…..
Karen and Paul, I sincerely hope you were pleased with your cake. I was an absolute pleasure to make it..
