We have done SO many cakes in Mayfair recently! We’ve been at the Bulgari, Claridges, 5 Hertford Street... As well as lots of our private Mayfair clientele. We especially loved designing and creating this epic cake for a rebranding event at the Bulgari back in March.
This was for Amie Bone Flowers. Basically the cake told a story of where the business had come thus far and so many key elements made up this crazy design! Being one of the lead cake makers in Mayfair we do tend to work for the more discerning client who absolutely know what they want! So we do get some quite unusual requests! However, we have never actually been asked to design a cake including:- a bulldog, a market stall, a peacock, a company logo (this was the gold key), a leopard (well, of why not eh?!), bananas, flowers, leaves, a top hat.. the list goes on!
To be honest, we weren’t actually asked to include all of these elements but Amie gave us a list of the key elements that were really important. Cranberry Blue Events were the Event Planners and they also gave us the specifics on the colour scheme and the particular flowers being used. Of course, we matched them identically in sugar.
I am sure that other Cake Makers in Mayfair will sympathise with how last minute lots of our commissions are.. We had 3 weeks lead time on this one! Whilst the cake elements of course have to be fresh, lots of the key elements created from icing can be made way in advance and then added. So, for a commission of this size and detail would would ideally require at least 6 to 8 weeks notice period. But we never like to say no and so there we were late at night for three weeks, making peacocks and flowers and leopards and dogs…!!!
But, as always, it was so worth all of the hard work. Amie and team were so pleased with the finished result and the guests were marvelling at the detail.
So.. another happy client and another job to show that we are one of the lead cake makers in Mayfair and we can pull out all the stops for that special commission.
