Best Cake Makers in London
2022 was been the most incredible year for Hall of Cakes. We have designed SO many cakes for SO many different weddings and events. But, nothing could have been more spectacular than the wonder that was Fantasia by Amie Bone Flowers. Amie said to us ‘You are the best best cake makers in London and I want the best cake EVER!’ No pressure at all!
Fantasia is, basically, a floral masterclass presented and hosted by Amie Bone. Students come from all over the world to master the talents that are required to produce a floral spectacle like no other event in London. The four day event, is always held at a spectacular London venue and designed and orchestrated by Amie Bone. It then ends with a gala dinner, which brings together the very best in the industry. It really is the most incredible event in London and the most incredible event we have had the honour to be part of.
Amie gave us a brief about 6 months ago – Marie Antoinette – Versailles.. Oh and everything is going to be RED. Everything! She was creating a floral spectacuiar like no other – literally. It’s always hard when working with strong colours as, from a cake point of view, do you go for contrast or co-ordinate? As we knew the colours would be so vibrant it was too risky to go for colour on the cake as it could literally be lost in and amongst everything else. Sooo…..
We went for contrast. We created this masterpiece to stand our against the most unbelievable backdrop of 50,000 fresh red roses and goodness knows how many other fresh florals and foliage. The cake was dirty – which sounds weird, but we wanted it literally to look like a building.. so it was washed with browns and creams and hints of gold to create an authentic aged look of a very very old building.
The biggest cake we have ever done. The most swearing and the most fun. Loved every minute of it. We have since been told by many that we are officially ‘the best cake makers in London’. Well after the stress of this one.. we’ll take that actually.
